Lessons


For beginners, where you will learn how to use the wheel, how to hand build on the slab, or a combination of both techniques.


All lessons consist of one-on-one instructions for 1 hour and 30 minutes with demonstrations.



What to expect:

  • Five pounds of clay,  all basic tools needed for working with the clay, and a potter's apron are included in each lesson


  • Please wear clothes that you don't mind getting clay on,  things will get messy!


  • Please bare in mind that long fingernails are not ideal for working with clay, and it is recommended to tie up long hair.


  • Please make sure to bring plenty of water, and any snacks you would like during the lesson.



Available Lessons:

You will be able to choose one of the following topics that you want to book for your lesson.


Wheel Throwing Lessons

Here we will go into details about centering, opening the clay, making a cylinder,  and shaping the cylinder into a bowl or cup, all while using the least amount of water needed for efficiency.


Hand Building Lessons

Here you will learn to hand build by making slabs on the slab roller, or by hand alone. You will learn how to make coil pots in combination with your slabs, and how to construct simple cylinders and boxes, which can enable you to create many different objects using your own imagination.


Trimming Your Work

Learn how to remove excess clay from your work to give it a balanced and finished shape. We will go into details about knowing how to shape your work when you can't see the inside of the shape.

Workshops


For those with beginner or previous experience who would like to learn advanced wheel work, glaze mixing and applying, how to make clay bodies, and much more.



This is a 3 hour long workshop experience where I provide hands-on instructions, demonstrations, and opportunities to practice your learned techniques in working with clay.


Up to 4 people can book a workshop at the same time for an exciting group learning experience.

What to expect:

  • Previous experience working with clay is required, as you will be learning advanced skills with each workshop.


  • Plan accordingly! This will be a 3 hour long experience, please make sure to bring plenty of water and food for you or your group during your time at the studio.


  • Make sure to wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty, working with clay is fun, but also messy!


  • Each person in your group will be provided with 10 pounds of clay to start with, and the basic tools needed to work with the clay and practice the new skills you will learn.


  • Please note that long fingernails are not ideal for working with clay, and it is recommended to tie up long hair.

Workshop Topics:

You will be able to choose one of the following topics that you want to book for your workshop.


  • An introduction to clay - What is clay made out of? What is a clay body? Here you will learn the answer to these questions, as well as how to make clay from raw ingredients. You will learn how to blend raw earth with other minerals to make a clay body.


  • Everything about Glazing - formulating, mixing, preparing, applying. You will learn about what makes a glaze, and how to best prepare it for various application techniques. You will gain an understanding of glaze chemistry, and what happens during a firing.


  • Kiln construction and firing - you will learn how to design and construct a kiln for firing your pieces, as well as how to navigate a firing schedule that enables glaze to melt successfully

Studio Rental


Already an experienced potter,  just in need of a good space to work from? You can schedule with me to book open studio space, so you can create with freedom, in peace, surrounded by nature.


All studio space availability is dependent on workshop and lesson schedules, as well as my own creative schedule. Please contact me to inquire about booking space.

When Booking Studio Space:

 

Firstly, you will need to have taken at least 3 basic lessons, and equipment training before you can book studio space. you will be shown how to use all of the available equipment, and what to do/not to do to prevent injury.


Otherwise, this is a completely unguided, no instruction opportunity to access the space you need to work on your own personal clay projects,  and let your creative mind fly free.


You will have access to all the tools needed to work with clay,  a potter’s wheel,  plaster wedging table,  slab roller and extruder, with several ceramic dyes.


Clay will be available for purchase if you need it, for $2.00/pound.


Booking Options:


Book the studio for a full day, or a half day. Get a full day (3 hours) for $60 per day. Book half days (2 hours) for $40. The option to book multiple days is also available, just send me a message!


I also offer the option to book space for up to a full month at a time, as long as workshop and lesson , and personal schedules permit. $160 per month.

To book:

  • Include your name, the dates you want, and what lessons or workshops you are interested in.

Payment Methods:


Payment is required at the time of booking. Payments can be made through Venmo or a debit/credit card, or with prior agreement cash will be accepted in person at the time of lessons or workshops. 


After you contact me with your information and what you would like to book, we will discuss total price and payment method. You can find my Venmo QR code and debit/credit card payment options Here.



Cancellations:


For a full refund, please give no less than 48 hours of notice if you need to cancel your booking.


If you do not show for your lesson or workshop with no notice, you will not receive a refund.


No refunds will be given if you are 30 minutes late or more.

Pricing


Lessons:

$50 per person for 1 hour and 30 minute lessons

Workshops:

$150 per person for 3 hour workshops

Studio Rental:

Rental for one 3 hour day - $60


Rental for one 2 hour day - $40


Rental for a full month - $160

My schedule is typically very seasonally based. Being an open air studio with no walls, there are times where it’s too hot or too cold for pottery.


Prime operating months


Mid April through June: Accessibility throughout the day.


 July through August:  7 A.M. to 12 P.M. and  7 P.M. to 9 P.M.
